O wydarzeniu
Dear Members of the Polish Community in Christchurch,
We are excited to invite you to participate in this year’s National Reading event, a cherished tradition that has been celebrated annually in Poland since 2012 under the auspices of the President of Poland and his wife. This event brings together readers across the globe to celebrate Polish literature, and we are proud to continue this tradition here in New Zealand.
This year, the entire nation is reading “Kordian” by Juliusz Słowacki, and we’re thrilled to bring this literary classic to life in Christchurch as well!
Join us at Turanga Library, Level 4, on 7th September from 2-4 pm for an afternoon of shared reading and cultural enrichment.
What to Expect:
● Reading of “Kordian”: We will be reading selected sections of Juliusz Słowacki’s “Kordian” in both Polish and English. Whether you are fluent in Polish or prefer English, this event is open to everyone. ● Text Availability: The text in both Polish and English will be provided upon request. Please feel free to message us if you would like to receive a copy in advance. ● Prizes: To add to the fun, we have prepared some exciting prizes for both kids and adults!
This is more than just a reading; it’s a celebration of our heritage, language, and community spirit. We encourage everyone, regardless of your familiarity with Polish literature, to join us and make this event a memorable experience.
We look forward to seeing you there!
This event is proudly sponsored by the Polish Embassy in Wellington, Polonia Christchurch, New Zealand, and supported by Between The Waters – Polish Legacy in New Zealand.
